Our story

A long history of making vegetables more enjoyable.

Vegie burger patties have been a longstanding specialty of our business and its predecessor, Fresh Fare. The Classic Vegie Burger was introduced to the Australian market in the mid-1980s and remains one of the range’s most enduring favourites.

Since 2003, Birubi Foods has continued developing Vegie Magic to give people more ways to enjoy vegetables, legumes and grains. Today the range includes patties, schnitzels, sliders, nuggets, rostis and other versatile formats for foodservice and home.

About Vegie Magic FAQs

What is Vegie Magic?

Vegie Magic makes healthier eating enjoyable, accessible and easier to fit into busy everyday lives. We create tasty foods from vegetables, legumes and grains that are easy and practical to enjoy when dining out, being catered for or eating at home. Made in Melbourne, our products help people enjoy a wider variety of plant-based foods more often and reduce their meat intake.

What makes Vegie Magic products special?

We don't try to make vegetables behave like meat. We create products people choose because they taste good, are easy to use and bring something different to the plate. Made with recognisable ingredients, they add variety and nutritional value across meals, snacks, share plates, sides and menu items throughout the day—not simply as a substitute for meat.

Where are Vegie Magic products made?

Vegie Magic products are made in Dandenong, Victoria, by Birubi Foods—the Australian manufacturer behind the brand. We have been making vegie patties and other convenient vegie foods for more than 20 years for restaurants, cafés, caterers, hospitals, aged-care providers and quick-service restaurants (QSRs), as well as for retail sale through independent supermarkets, delis and butchers.
